What break up? Simon Cowell and fiancee Mezhgan put on a pointed show of unity

They have been plagued by rumours of a split.
So tonight, Simon Cowell and fiancee Mezhgan Hussainy put on a show of unity to prove the doubters wrong.
The pair smiled for the cameras at the International Emmy Awards in New York where The X Factor judge was honoured with a special gong.

Cowell, 51, looked smart in a navy blue suit and white shirt, while his 37-year-old make-up artist fiancee wore a frilly strapless green number.
The pair have been dogged by rumours they had split, with Hussainy this week even having to declare they are still together.

‘I still love him and he says he still loves me and we are still engaged – as far as I know,' she told the Mail on Sunday.

Husainy did admit they couple had been 'apart for a while' due to Cowell's British television commitments.
But tonight, the couple seemed eager to put on a show of unity at the awards ceremony, where Cowell received an honorary award.
The former American Idol judge was presented with the Founders Award Emmy by media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
Murdoch lauded Cowell for making 'enormous cultural contributions' over the past decade and called him a 'phenomenal media impresario.'

In his acceptance speech, Cowell joked that whoever said that fame, money and success make people miserable can 'bring it on,' and added that 'My life was boring before I went on television.'
A smattering of celebrities from the world of television also attended the ceremony.
Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss arrived in a pale peach gown, while Melissa Joan Hart sported black mini dress and heels.
British actress Ruth Wilson also stuck to black, arriving in a flowing black gown.
