“Meeting her and getting to know her was a real pleasant surprise,” Johnny Depp tells rock legend Patti Smith, writing for Vanity Fair, of working with Angelina Jolie on their upcoming film, The Tourist. “You don’t know what she might be like—if she has any sense of humor at all. I was so pleased to find that she is incredibly normal, and has a wonderfully kind of dark, perverse sense of humor.”
Depp tells Smith of the challenges he and his co-star faced with constant media scrutiny on set. “Poor thing, dogged by paparazzi, her and her husband, Brad…all their kids,” Depp says of Angelina and her famous brood. “There are times when you see how ridiculous is this life, how ludicrous it is, you know, leaving your house every morning and being followed by paparazzi.”
Depp tells Smith about the difficulties that arose while filming together—having to be discreet to avoid unwarranted speculation—which included “having to hide, sometimes not even being able to talk to each other in public because someone will take a photograph and it will be misconstrued and turned into some other shit.”
Depp compares Angelina to another famous leading lady. “I’ve had the honor and the pleasure and gift of having known Elizabeth Taylor for a number of years,” he says. “You know, you sit down with her, she slings hash, she sits there and cusses like a sailor, and she’s hilarious. On the set of the upcoming installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, Smith asks Depp what it’s like to play the iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow. “Somebody once asked [Hunter S. Thompson], “What is the sound of one hand clapping, Hunter?,” and he smacked him. Captain Jack was kind of like that for me, an opening up of this part of yourself,” Depp says. “There is a little Bugs Bunny in all of us.”
“They couldn’t stand him. They just couldn’t stand him,” Depp says of Disney’s reaction to his controversial interpretation of Sparrow. “I think it was Michael Eisner, the head of Disney at the time, who was quoted as saying, ‘He’s ruining the movie.’ Depp reveals to Smith, however, that he remained unfazed by the studio’s hysteria. “Upper-echelon Disney-ites, going, What’s wrong with him? Is he, you know, like some kind of weird simpleton? Is he drunk? By the way, is he gay?… And so I actually told this woman who was the Disney-ite… ‘But didn’t you know that all my characters are gay?’ Which really made her nervous.”

Ricky Martin was overwhelmed with emotion when he finally revealed his sexuality to his mother and father - because they welcomed the news by expressing their unconditional love for the singer.
The Livin' La Vida Loca hitmaker 'came out' as a gay man in March after wrestling with his feelings for years, and he admits he was prepared for a difficult talk with his parents when he decided to come clean about his chosen lifestyle.
But he was surprised when his mum and dad revealed they were already aware of his homosexuality.
Martin tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "(Mum) asked me, 'Baby, are you in love?' And I said, 'Yeah mum, I am in love.' And she asked me, 'Is it a man?' and I thought, 'Wow, this is gonna be easier than what I thought.' And I said, 'Yes mum, it's a man.'
"I was extremely surprised and then she said, 'Come on, give me a hug. You're my son and I love you, and I will always be here for you.' So it was very beautiful. "My father... he kinda told me. I wanted to tell him and he said, 'You don't have to say a word. I love you and I just want you to be happy.'"

The 'Harry Potter' actor has made an estimated £45.6 million, £25 million of which comes from the final two films in the series 'The Deathly Hallows', alone, almost £15 million more than the second-placed star, 25-year-old Keira Knightley, who has made a fortune of £30.1 million so far.
Four of the top five money-makers in the list compiled by heat magazine come from the wizard movie series made famous by Daniel, with Emma Watson and Rupert Grint making £20.6 million and £19 million respectively.
'Twilight: Saga' actor Robert Pattinson - who appeared in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' - was placed fifth, having earned £18.5 million so far.

Colin Firth Being Perfect For The New Yorker Profile
Alert your mother: Colin Firth was in town last week. The British actor best known for playing variations on the repressed-but-sexy English gentleman, such as the aloof Mr. Darcy in the BBC’s “Pride and Prejudice,” and the uptight, but still eligible, Mark Darcy, foil to the caddish Hugh Grant in “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” was staying at his favorite hotel, the Trump SoHo, and working the talk-show circuit. On Tuesday afternoon, he appeared in the lobby, wearing a black sweater and jeans, and displaying a jarringly un-brooding personality. “I’m not a big fan of hip hotels,” he said, explaining his choice of the Trump. “I prefer corporate—I hate to say that.”
Firth was promoting his new film, “The King’s Speech,” in which he plays King George VI, who ascended the British throne in 1936 after his brother, Edward VIII, abdicated in order to marry Wallis Simpson. Because of the weighty historical context (Britain on the eve of the Second World War) and the role (the story revolves around the King’s struggle to overcome a debilitating stammer, with the help of a speech therapist, played by Geoffrey Rush), it’s being discussed as Oscar material. This annoys Firth. The Academy Awards “could not have been further from our minds,” he said. “I thought we were making what could be a rather grim story of a man’s misery.” But he acknowledged that the monarch’s fear of public speaking could have broad appeal. “It’s an extremely heightened representation of anxieties that we all understand.”
He has one public-speaking horror story: “It was a punishment. I was eight. I was talking in class, and the teacher said, ‘Oh, do you want to give the lesson?’ ” The following week, after several sleepless nights, Firth was made to teach an hour-long class on the topic of soil. “It’s the only thing I ever really learned during my entire school years,” he said. “I still remember words like ‘loam’ and ‘subsoil,’ and different levels and layers. I brought in samples and little test tubes.”
This was in Hampshire, England. Firth’s father, a history professor, grew up in India, the fifth generation in a family of British colonists. He moved his family around, assuming teaching posts all over the world: Nigeria, St. Louis, and various places in England—“Billericay, Brentwood, Bath.” Firth downplayed the trauma of his peripatetic childhood compared with the trials endured by George VI, who was forced to wear leg braces and was abused by his nanny. But, he said, it gave him an appreciation for the importance of speech. As an eighth grader in Missouri, he was teased about his accent: “I kept hearing this expression ‘Pip pip cheerio!’ ” he said.(I'LL KILL THEM, BB)
Walking down Spring Street, Firth arrived at Mercer Kitchen, where he surveyed a downstairs bar area, and said, “Amazing! iPads and iPods littering the landscape!” He opted for a table upstairs, where he ordered a Diet Coke and scallops, and talked about learning to speak like King George VI.“There’s no manual on how you achieve a stammer,” he said. “There’s a lot of work on how you overcome one.” Tom Hooper, the film’s director, urged Firth and the rest of the cast to work on their British accents, to make them historically accurate. “We spoke differently as a culture eighty years ago,” Firth said, then did an impression of a nineteen-thirties aristocrat “tapping his ‘R’s: ‘Tedibly, tedibly.’ ” The Royals had their own way of speaking. “If you listen to Edward VIII’s abdication speech, it’s got some very strange sounds,” he said. “Almost an American influence.” George VI clenched his jaw when he spoke, and Firth imitated his weak “R”s: “He would say, ‘Might is Llllright.’ ’’ The current Royals, Firth said, have an accent, too. “It’s actually, I think, rather particular to the aristocracy, perhaps even to just the Royal Family—” He stopped himself, and added, somewhat unconvincingly, “I can’t really imitate it.” (He said that he hadn’t been following the Kate Middleton story very closely: “I’m not part of that discussion.”)

For the past few years Kwanten’s been burning up the small screen as the hilarious Jason Stackhouse in True Blood, and in his spare time over the last year he’s managed to squeeze in three films – Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, Griff the Invisible, and Red Hill. And there’s plenty more to come.
Kwanten shares everything with GQ from growing up in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, to breaking into Hollywood and his dislike of sleep. Despite his success Kwanten remains down-to-earth and is still excited by living and working in Hollywood – “Every time I drive down Santa Monica Boulevard, every time I see the Hollywood sign, I’ve been here eight years now and I still have that twinkle.”

Last night, Alexander met with Gaga in her dressing room. The two sat down to chat for almost 20 minutes and, in addition to filming the video above, Gaga gave Alexander a few messages she wanted to be relayed to you guys. Firstly, the new album is going to be like “bad kids going to church, having fun on a high level.” We can also expect the first single to be released in February 2011.

On Alan and Julie:
“Alan Rickman [who plays the menacing Severus Snape] fascinates me,” says Grint. “He always seems to be in character. He’s really quite intimidating with that air about him. Actually, he’s nice to talk to, but he’s got this presence that makes you feel like he’s unapproachable.” Julie Walters is one of his favourites. “I’m quite close to her. She’s warm. She really is like my mum, and she’s seen us grow up.”
On Ron’s dark turn:
“My part really improves,” says Grint. “It’s more complicated. Ron has a total freak-out, and gets jealous and angry. There’s a lot of paranoia and grief, and he falls in love. It’s quite a big moment for him.”
On the kiss:
The final book and this film also include the first kiss between Ron and Hermione, a relief for frustrated viewers. Rowling hinted at an attraction between the two for a long time, and there were petty jealousies and near misses. “The kiss happened quite naturally, and in the second part of Deathly Hallows they’re really quite couply, holding hands a lot. It wasn’t like it came from nowhere. It was quite a tricky kiss, a bit strange, but quite sweet really. It was just one shot, but we had about six takes. It was all right, yeah. Easy after the first take,” says Grint, then adds, “I’ve almost no memory of it at all.”
On fame:
Grint often gets followed down the street or accosted in bars. When he goes with his mates to rock festivals, he has been known to wear a duck mask, just so he can walk around freely.
“You develop an instinct for it. You can hear people saying your name, feel their stares. But it depends where you are. Here in Britain, people are a lot more reserved. In America it’s kind of crazy: louder, a few screams, and they want me to sign stuff – them. I once signed a tattoo of me, Dan and Emma on a guy’s arm. He was quite an old guy, 40, freaky, quite weird. It wasn’t a great tattoo either. I looked a bit like Anne Robinson.”
On the end:
“It felt like the last day at school,” says Grint. “Packing up all the stuff in my dressing room, all the old toys still there from when I was 11… I’d underestimated how emotional it would be. We all cried.”
On being casted:
“I suppose when they selected us as kids, they weren’t expecting us to act that much. They didn’t really want kids from drama school. I always felt quite a strong connection to Ron. I don’t know if it was just a ginger thing though,” he says, laughing. His hair is actually less carroty in real life: “Yes, the sun calms it down a little bit.” As for the Rupert-Ron intermingling, he says: “Possibly I’ve taken on some of his characteristics and we have merged into the same kind of person.”

“When he first started he was really cute and really shy,” recalls Julie Walters, who has played Grint’s screen mum Molly Weasley from the start. “My abiding memory of him is at the first premiere and Grant, my husband, and I looked at Rupert and there was a beautiful little moon face, and he looked like a rabbit caught in the flashbulbs. He was such a sweetheart you wanted to cuddle him.”
